Happy Valentine’s 2015!

Here at Casa Bridget, we use Valentine’s Day as yet another excuse for a party and a celebration of our love for our residents! We had different races, competitions and games all modified depending on different capabilities, followed by music and dancing. We enjoyed eating sweets and home-made, heart-shaped cakes. It was a lovely day which really showed off all our residents ever improving skills and the hardwork put in by our dedicated staff! ...

Christmas joy to over 250 in Romania

This year your generosity meant we were able to make Christmas special for even more people than in previous years! It all started on the 19th December when we had our Christmas Party for our lovely day centre children with a big lunch, presents from Father Christmas and shows for our residents. Great fun was had by all   In the days before Christmas we donated food, clothes and presents to over 200 needy people in 10 different villages, the joy on people’s faces when Father Christmas walks up their path is indescribable!   On Christmas morning our residents put on a small show which was gate crashed by Father Christmas! They were thrilled...

Good luck Liliana!

We’d like to wish Liliana the very best of luck on her first day at school in IRELAND! Liliana  and her family have been supported by the foundation for a number of years and in a variety of ways. From 2007-2013 Liliana attended our Day Centre where she developed into a bright, kind and caring young lady. When Liliana turned 14 years old and left school in the village, we offered to sponsor her to go high school in the nearest town but unfortunately her mum didn’t agree. For a year Liliana stayed at home doing the housework and looking after her younger siblings. Then in 2014 the Philips family came to visit and met up with Liliana, on hearing her story they...

Then we went outside to chat around the bonfire, light our pumpkins and set off Chinese lanterns! It was also Ionel’s Birthday and he had a great time scaring everyone ...

Summer Camp 2014

This year we were very happy to welcome back fantastic volunteers, Aoife Clarke, Zoe Nevin and Síomha Ni Mhurchu, along with their friend, Meabh Temple, who came out for her first trip. The girls set up a “Summer Camp” with our Day Centre children doing different activities every day – brilliant arts and crafts, games, sports, face-painting, loom bands and much more! This is a wonderful experience for our children as they get to learn about different cultures, practice speaking English, learn new skills which helps build their self-confidence and make new friends! These 4 teenagers are great role-models for our youngsters – responsible,...

Thank you, Isobel!

A huge thank you to a fantastic volunteer! Isobel Taylor has just spent the last 6 weeks with us and we are so sorry to see her go! Isobel got stuck in from the very first day, covering for staff holidays and bonding with the residents. In her spare time she helped out in our community work and she also set up a fantastic program in our Day Centre; teaching sex education, gender equality, domestic violence, money management and CV writing skills. All vital lifeskills that local children are generally not taught in schools or by their parents. We marked her last day with a surprise show by the residents and a surprise horse and cart trip through the village! Isobel bought...
