“Don’t Abandon school!”

We are five months in to our project to prevent school abandonment and we are really pleased with the progress we’ve made. We are working with 14 children who are currently in their final year at the village school. At the end of the school year they will take national exams in Romanian and Maths and their results determine which high school (if at all) they get a place in. We are offering weekly free tuition in these two subjects to give them a better chance of passing the exams and thus getting a place in High School. Mirela’s first day of school in Ireland!

14 months ago we posted about Liliana, who was starting her first day at school in Ireland after our good friends, the Phillips, opened up their home and hearts to her. Well now the story gets even better because Liliana’s youngest sister, Mirela, has now also joined the Phillips family and last month enjoyed HER first day at school in Ireland! Here they are having breakfast before school   They are fantastic girls who are really making the most of this life-changing experience. Well done girls and of course the Phillips!

We would like to wish all our friends a very Happy New Year and thank you for all your support. Thanks to you all 2015 was an amazing year and here are just some of the highlights of 2015…. Happy Valentine’s 2015!

Here at Casa Bridget, we use Valentine’s Day as yet another excuse for a party and a celebration of our love for our residents! Christmas joy to over 250 in Romania

This year your generosity meant we were able to make Christmas special for even more people than in previous years! It all started on the 19th December when we had our Christmas Party for our lovely day centre children with a big lunch, presents from Father Christmas and shows for our residents. Great fun was had by all   In the days before Christmas we donated food, clothes and presents to over 200 needy people in 10 different villages, the joy on people’s faces when Father Christmas walks up their path is indescribable!   On Christmas morning our residents put on a small show which was gate crashed by Father Christmas!
